The Antichrist
The antichrist is coming soon. He will set himself up as greater than Jesus Christ. Anyone who opposes Jesus Christ or doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ is an antichrist.
“And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:3
Throughout history there have been many people who were in opposition to Jesus Christ. They have all been antichrists. But very soon THE antichrist will come to earth.
“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.” 1 John 2:18
One Antichrist
There is one individual who is THE ANTICHRIST. This individual will come at the very end of time on this earth. The antichrist will be the greatest opposer of Jesus Christ that has ever existed.
The antichrist is described several places in the bible. 2 Thessalonians 2 tells about the antichrist.
The antichrist will claim to be God
“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4
Jesus Christ will not come to earth the second time until after the antichrist has come to earth. The antichrist is called the man of sin and the son of perdition.
The antichrist will exalt himself above God. The antichrist will sit in the temple of God and claim that he is God. The antichrist will require that all the people in the world worship him instead of God.
The antichrist works miracles
“8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the
Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the
brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according
to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10
and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they
did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And
for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should
believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe
the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
2 Thessalonians
2:8-12
The antichrist will lie and will deceive almost everyone. The antichrist will have the power of Satan and will work signs and miracles.
